RUNWAY TO CHANGE: Barack Obama

I love this sign! All the smart Republicans
are voting for Obama.

OMG! I’m soooooooooooooooooo rediculously excited about Barack Obama. I mean, he’s going to win, he’s g-o-i-n-g to win and I’m so excited about this fact. I remember in the beginning there were so many haters and nay-sayers, and I remember asking them all “Why are you doubting, if you’re for him, like you say you are, then why all the haterization?”. But now with every single poll in the world showing that Obama is up by like 10-12 points- there is NO doubt in my mind. Okay, I know this isn’t a political blog, but after seeing all the custom made Barack Obama t-shirts just now, made by fashion designers, I just got really excited. It’s like who ISN’T for Barack Obama? The whole world is for this guy- it’s every continent in the world vs a little under half of the United States…. and that little under a half is truly comprised of a bunch of ignorant people, rich out-of-touch people, die-hard Republicans, etc etc.

Okay, if I don’t stop myself I can keep going on and on. Anyway, I just wanted to display some the custom made designs… because I didn’t realize that all these designers had made shirts:

Pharrell Williams for Barack Obama
” Obama Stands Out From the Crowd T-shirt”
$60, buy it here.

Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter for Barack Obama
“Change Black T-Shirt”
$60, buy it here.

Russell Simmons for Barack Obama
“America Deserves Better Mens White T-shirt”
$60, buy it here.
Those are all the shirts made by male designers (who make men’s clothes), but there are tons more by some of the best fashion designers: Tracy Reese, Alexander Wang, Zac Posen, Tory Burch, etc. Check them all out here. I’ve had the official Barack Obama campaign shirts and buttons since Barack came to Georgia Tech Spring 2007. Since then I hadn’t really gotten anymore BO gear, but I feel I need more to preserve history and to give some vintage Barack Obama shirts to my grandkids, lol. So for that reason I ordered some “Barack the Vote” tees last week (barackawear.com), I’m going to buy more official Barack Obama gear (buttons, shirts, etc) from his site (barackobama.com), I’ll head to karmaloop.com or urbanoutfitters.com and get me a more “hip-hop” obama shirt, and I’ll buy some Barack Obama stuff from the man with the Barack Obama stand in Union Sqaure (New York). I know I’m doing alot, but I just can’t contain myself!
So in closing, go vote! And like I always tell people “Don’t just vote, VOTE for Barack Obama”. I voted 3 weeks ago when I went back to Georgia. The line was crazy- I took pictures on my phone, but I haven’t been able to upload it yet. So all you Georgians need to go vote now because I can only imagine the turn out on Nov.4th… check online to see where you need to vote because each county is different. (If you’re registered in DeKalb County go vote at the DMV place off Memorial Drive) …. I think Georgia may become a blue state because the polling place was filled with sooooooo many people, many of whom had not ever voted before.

Alrighty, I’ll stop writing… have a great day guys! Urban Gentleman for Barack Obama! Lol.

Weekend Advice: Try A New Trend

I was just thinking about all of you gentleman and I wanted to suggest trying out a new trend or two this weekend. I know some of you are curious and anxious to try new styles and trends– and the weekends are the best time to experiment! I’m not saying debut the look at a VIP event, but maybe throw on some slightly fitted bright colored jeans when you make your run to Target. Try wearing some thick framed glasses when you go get your car washed or tuck one shirt tail in when you go see a matinée at the movie theaters.
The weekends are a great time to experiment with trends because:
1. You’re in a more chill mood
2. You’re running errands, doing random stuff
3. You have more time

All these things relax your mind which makes you more at ease when wearing clothes you may not feel comfortable in. So try something out this weekend and if you begin to feel unsure about what you’re rockin just think to yourself “these people don’t me” and start rapping T.I’s song in your head “You may see me on the streets, but shawty you don’t know me”, lol… it works, because they really don’t know you– so who cares what they say or think about your outfit.

Have a great weekend! Use condoms! Don’t drink and drive! Go to church on Sunday! lol…

2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards Fashion: The Men

Well it surely went down in my hometown of Atlanta this past weekend… once again the BET Hip-Hop Awards came in and took over the “black mecca”. After going through alot of the men’s fashion for the event, I ‘ve decided only to display the decent to greatly dressed people. Why? Because I don’t want to distract your minds by showing you foolishly dressed people– I could do a worst dressed list, but I don’t want to dog anyone I want to help them… so, anyway check out the photos from the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards below:

(I’ll put up more later and write captions, etc etc… I just gotta finish this drawing and pattern making work first though)
