A Man’s Scent: 5 Cologne Reviews – Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and Tommy Bahama

The Urban Gentleman's latest Cologne Lineup:

Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and Tommy Bahama

As Father's Day is quickly approaching it's only natural we bring to you a cologne review. Today we have a line-up of 5 colognes reviewed by Urban Gent Frank Baron and of course, Cindy Samoht– this gives you that male/female balance. Instead of the typical "this smells good" "this doesn't smell good" type of review, we opted for something more useful. Our men's fragrance review includes the type of place you would wear each fragrance. This should help make your selection process easier.

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Parfum – Those who know me know my love and adoration for Bottega Veneta, so I was pumped to try their fragrance. This was one of our favorites, it's a luxurious scent to be worn during formal occasions, like those summer weddings that are piling up. A few sprays well blended into your skin will certainly have you at official Urban Gentleman status.

Top Notes: Cedar and Cardamom // Middle notes Pimento and Fir // Base Notes: Leather, Labdanum, and Tonka beans

Gucci Guilty Absolute – We've been rocking with Gucci Guilty since their first fragrance. "If you're the type of person that uses cologne before going out into nature, this is the scent to spray. Maybe before going on a trail," Frank Baron. I'd have to agree. It's the perfect natural scent, a bit oaky/woodsy, and very masculine. If you want a new signature everyday fragrance this would be my top pick.

Top Notes: Leather //  Middle Notes: Patchouli and Cypress // Base Notes: Wood and Vetiver

Calvin Klein Intense – Calvin Klein has more fragrances than the other guys in our cologne lineup, and this is another to add to their never ending list. We both felt the scent was "islandy" and would work perfect as a weekend scent. Something for Saturday mornings, maybe Sunday afternoons.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Grapefuit, White Pepper, and Black Tea // Middle Notes: Iris, Geranium, Rhubarb, and Lavender // Base Notes: Cedar, Vetiver, and Cashmere Wood

Hugo Boss Boss Intense – This was my first time in a while experiencing a Hugo Boss cologne, and I liked it. Sweet is the first adjective that popped into my head, a spicy sweetness. The fragrance includes Maninka fruit from South Africa, which is said to have aphrodisiac powers. I haven't tested the theory, but I could see how that's true, something about the scent just draws you in. This is a good option for a daily routine, like going to and from class… or maybe even casual dates with you, bae, and your dog.

Top Notes: Ginger and Cardamom // Middle Notes: Maninka and Lavender // Base Notes: Leather and Vanilla

Tommy Bahama Maritime – A year or so ago during our Fall Winter Look Book, the Tommy Bahama team sent us their St.Kitts fragrance to feature. You can see Ben Swann wearing it, here (at 0:54 in the video). Keeping in line with their overall brand Tommy Bahama Maritime gives you vibes of just that– being on the water. A summer fragrance, something you'd wear when going to the beach that should mix well with both your natural body scent and that of the sand and water.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Lavender, Pink Pepper, Clary Sage // Middle Notes: Water Lily, Jasmine, Violet Leaf, Geranium, Ambergris // Base Notes: Cedar, Sandalwood, Musk, and Moss
