PSA: Update Your Urban Gentleman Links

triplex penthouse pierre hotel

Hey Everyone, this is an OFFICIAL Public Service Announcement.

To all fans, supporters, casual readers, and visitors of The Urban Gentleman:

Please update your links to reflect our domain name change: www.theurbangent.com

(Yes we’ve had the domain for awhile, and announced a similar change a year ago, but that was just “domain forwarding/masking”.)
So those of you who are linked to us on your sidebars, in articles, in features, as a source, or bookmarked please change the url/link to reflect www.theurbangent.com (not our blogspot address). All the links have been updated so if you love our Top Jeans List, our Big and Tall guide, Prom/Formal guide, Hair and Styling Gallery, or any other article be sure to update those links. (it only takes a few seconds). And those of you who aren’t linked to us, you really should– our articles are quite helpful :)

Why the change?

Basically…. (play the song)

Lol, I tried to find the original song, but “WMG” removed all the audio from the authentic Jeffersons theme song youtube clips, so this had to do… very corny, I know, but they actually sound pretty good.
“… Took a whole lotta trying just to get up that hill. Now we’re up in the big league….” Thanks to you guys (and gals) our website is growing at an exponential rate, and so to celebrate we will be restructuring/renovating the blog. We’ve been planning to do this for about a year now, so it feels great for everything to finally be in the works. Step one was making our domain more official. We’ll keep everyone updated on any more changes, in the meanwhile just keep spreading the word.  “We’re moving on up….” Actually, we were already up, and already had a piece of the pie– we’re just adding new ingredients, to make it even better ;-)

So, after searching the depths of youtube I finally found the original Jefferson’s theme song:

**UPDATE: One of the best ways to help aid Haiti is by donating to Wyclef Jean’s Yele Foundation. Other organizations have administration fees (which are around 30% or more). Wyclef is Haitian and does all he can to make the country better (his efforts are year round). So be sure to give to his organization FIRST, then you can give to the others.  yele.org Unlike most of the other non-profits 100% of the donation you give to YELE will go to the relief efforts.**
Text YELE to 501501 to donate $5 to the relief effort. Good people give to those in need, as do gentlemen especially Urban Gentlemen. Contributing $5 is literally pennies to give in comparison to the big impact you will make with the donation. Please help out this great country in their time of need.

(be sure to send atleast $20 (4 text) to Wyclef’s Yele Haiti Foundation).

So…. which “his basics” photo is your favorite?

His Basics

Someone sent us the photos above and below that feature alot of “stuff” that we’ll call “his basics”. Alot of creative types have taken pictures of their basics before– be it a pair of wayfarers, their iphone, favorite watch, and hat -or- their daily spectacles, wallet, moleskine, and slr. Their basics are usually spread out in a way that describes them (neat or a little messy) and the picture is usually taken in a place or on something that adds to their personality (on their steel desk, on the bed, on a desk covered with magazine clippings etc). And basically, we think it would be cool if you guys sent us photos of your basics… so think about the items you own that are most essential, maybe items you favor above the rest; then take a clear picture and send it to urbangentblog@gmail.com. If we get enough entries we’ll have a contest and you guys can choose the best. (include your name, location, and list all the items you’ve included).
