Last night the Beverly Hilton Hotel held the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills. Check out the winners and the men of the red carpet, including Urban Gentleman favorites.

White Collar star Matt Bomer looked dapper.

Johnny Depp rocks his usual Bohemian-Eclectic style with his long hair, glasses, chain, boots, and overall relaxed look., complete with no tie. His label… all Ralph Lauren Black Label. With Martin Katz cufflinks. He opted for a shawl-collared jacket instead of the traditional notch-lapel.

LL Cool J and wife Simone Johnson… he'll never let those Kangol hats go

Ryan Gosling was hands down one of my favorites in a black velvet Ferragamo suit, a white shirt with pearl buttons by Lavin, Hugo Boss black velvet bow tie, and black patent leather Ferragamos

Inception star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt always brings it. Matter of fact he needs his own Urban Gentleman style profile very soon. Like a few others he donned navy at the Golden Globes.  To be more specific a two-button notch lapel Prada suit. With a red button… I wonder what the button stands for– it looks good though.

Best Supporting actor winner Christian Bale and wife Sibi Blazic. They've been matching in black all award-season long, maybe they'll switch it up for the Oscars, who knows. Christian hit the red carpet in Dolce & Gabbana from head to toe: black peal lapel tuxedo, black shirt, black tie, and black shoes. ( I do love a nice Dolce suit). Cartier cufflinks and watch.

And Christian's Fighter co-star Mark Walhberg mixes it up a bit (designer wise): Giorgio Armani tuxedo, shirt, black bow-tie, and Martin Katz cufflinks. His wife Rhea Durham looks great too.

2010 Golden Globe Awards: Men’s Red Carpet Fashion

67th Annual Golden Globe Awards
held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel
on January 17, 2010 in Beverly Hills, California.
Taylor Lautner in a hidden button down shirt and bow-tie
Hidden button down dress shirts (hidden plackets) are among my favorite. They always make for a much cleaner, neater, dapper look. I usually see the younger chicer gentlemen wearing these because the style is more modern (generally speaking). Hidden button down shirts not only give a more handsome/modern look, they can also have a slimming effect on most guys. The slimming effect stems from the lack of button tension sometimes seen on regular button downs, but more notably the hidden placket creates a slimming effect because it makes the eyes focus on the dark suit rather than the shirt and suit, creating a seamless, streamlined look. Be sure to add a few hidden button down shirts to your wardrobe.

Chace Crawford opted for slim shawl collar suit,

Avatar’s Sam Worthington in Burberry
(custom tailored black tuxedo, dress shirt and shoes)

Everyone tended to keep it basic and black this year. Usually there are a number of guys who may opt for suits instead of tuxedos, maybe a few in grey/brown/navy suits, some who decide to wear black on black (black dress shirt and suit), and a few who choose to wear their tux with a bright colored tie…  not this year. This year everyone wore a black tuxedo with a black tie, back to the basics I suppose.

Worst Dressed:
I usually don’t do “worst-dressed”,
but the tackiness of these two guys
is sort of uncalled for…

Mickey Rourke.
I’m totally speechless.

Laurence Fishburne
I love Laurence- I swear I do, but why.. why oh why
must you look like a baptist preacher at the Golden Globe Awards
I like it when guys go a little bit out the box for black tie events, but
this is just wrong.

Best Dressed of the Night:

Tom Cruise.
From the perfectly cut hair to the spread collar.
Tom looks extremely handsome in his Armani tuxedo.
Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Diddy always brings it pretty hard and last night he brought it.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
I like it when men wear suits that subtly match their personality.
I feel like this 3 piece suit fits his mysterious demeanor.
I may not recommend this for everyone, but it looks good on him.
