Celebrity Men in Floral Prints: rapper A$AP Rocky;  rockstar Jimmy Hendrix; UK rapper Tinie Tempah; menswear editor Nick Wooster

Floral – a print that was thought to be for women only has beautifully made its way into menswear. It's always been around, but more commonly seen on Hawaiian shirts and in paisley prints on ties and pocket squares.  Now, it has expanded to so much more than just a vacation shirt. Why? It's the mood of the world, I suppose. I don't know if it's debut, several years back, was indirectly a political thing— making its way into designers hearts from the happy loving years of President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama being in the White House. OR Like many trends it could be based on the growing success of a particular designerand other designers being greatly inspired by their creativity and style (Etro maybe? They've always had prints, which is why I've always adored them so). Then there's the widespread expression that, "What Comes Around Goes Around", and perhaps it's the natural way of trends recycling themselves… a little 1960s – 1970s Jimi Hendrix swag never hurt nobody, right? Or lastly, one could guess the likeliest cause might be the natural need for more variety. With the menswear industry growing and more men spending time (and money) to uniquely outfit their wardrobe, they want more than just solid colors and stripes to choose from– floral is one of those options.

As a men's fashion stylist, I humbly recommend having atleast one floral piece in your wardrobe– a hat, a backpack, a shirt, or if you're really feeling yourself, a suit that can be worn as separates when you're feeling less audacious. From tonal to brights, Gucci slippers to Etro polos, I've custom chosen several pieces for you below…

Congratulations to the 2016 Graduates: Now Go Make it Happen, We’ll Keep You Fly While Doing It

I came across this video last night and had to post. Donovan Livingson is a Harvard Graduate who recently gave an amazing speech at graduation, listen below, it's less than 5 minutes. View the entire transcript of the speech below after our 3 Urban Gentleman Career Looks:

Some of you are headed off to Wall Street for the 1st or 2nd time. Some of you will be educators, others may be creatives expressing themselves, while some may simply be corporate America soldiers– hustling and doing your thing until your purpose and vision become crystal clear. Whatever the job or career, look good doing it! People will take you more seriously, many will admire your style, and most importantly you'll feel good.

I chose 9 items below that can become a staple in various careers– whether it's a classic navy suit for the business man, perfectly ripped denim jeans for the creative, or chinos for the well-dressed teacher. Take your pick!

This is for your Class of 2016.

Congratulations – The Urban Gentleman is proud of you!

Mini Urban Gentleman: LACOSTE x TUG Fall Winter KIDS Look Book

TUG x LACOSTE: LA VIE EN COULEURS

We teamed up with iconic luxury sportswear brand Lacoste to create a special Mini TUG LookBook entitled, "Life in Color" or "La Vie En Couleurs" to pay tribute to the french brand. Our approach and idea was simple — we wanted to display elegant colorful clothing on beautiful children in a sophisticated yet playful setting. The "Los Trompos" outdoor interactive exhibit at The High Museum of Art was the ideal location… in fact it was the biggest inspiration for this season's Mini Urban Gent Look Book. While this feature was initially centered around the original and kid sophistication of a mini Urban Gent, we decided to include what is the ideal mini Urban Gent girlfriend as well — who's equally as fashionable and beautifully compliments his style. Needless to say this was a fun look book, it was a sunny day full of laughter, spinning art, skateboarding, drawing cool logos on sidewalks, basketball, and playing fetch with a toy parti poodle at a beautiful museum.

Men’s Casual Summer Elegance: Get the Look

Summer Elegance. Sometimes, or maybe alot of the times, you need more than ripped jeans and a t-shirt for your casual menswear. In the same sentiment of The New Summer Classics, try one or both of these looks to satisfy your more elegant side.

How to Ensure Your Wardrobe is Summer Elegant?

A neutral palette that compliments your skin tone. Darker skin tones = beige, khaki, white / Paler skin tones = brown, burgundy, olive

Fit. Not too big, not too small… just right.

Material. While there are exceptions to the rule stay away from sporty workout materials.

AllSaints button-up, AllSaints shorts, AllSaints sweater, Topman tassel loafers, Vintage accessories

A tucked in button up is always preferred, but in summer months you get to forgo "the rules"… keep it loose and untucked for a more airy comfortable feeling.

Sidenote: I would like to commend AllSaints for the thoughtfulness of their button-up design above. These days we button it up— all the way, it's very stylish, but it can be a little tight on the neck. Their button-up features a hook top button that is hidden under the collar. This gives a cleaner crisper look and allows the neck a little breathing room. #TUGCrew says thanks.
