There are so many different types of looks you can rock to the club. And depending on what kind of club you’re going to you may dress up or dress casual. But overall there is a great basic club look that will surely catch the right attention…
The basic club look: slight v-neck tee, quality dark denim jeans (that fit you), dope sneakers that fit your personal style, and a fitted hat (preferably an A’s fitted, lol). You should also wear a nice belt, stunner shades, and a stylish watch.

Vans Authentic are always a good choice

Creative Recreation shoes always give an edge
- New Era
- Check out my watch guide for info on the best watches- I would suggest a gold or digital watch
- Rayban has some of the best shades at good prices- you can buy them on eBay
- You can find belts anywhere, for new styles check out journeys.com
Sidenote: If you sag a little make sure you have on some nice boxers (Old Navy has nice ones)
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Check to make sure you have some breath-enhancers and some really good cologne (not too strong though). Also, make sure you atleast have a shape-up and please make sure your nails are cut.
Have fun at the club tonight! And use protection if you end up getting some nookie (too many STDs out there)…
Blue: Sound simple right, well it is. Blue is one the current colors of the season. This is the easiest current men’s trend- all you have to do is buy blue clothes- I’d suggest some nice cobalt blue button-ups and maybe a indigo blue tie.

Unique Frames: Nothing says “I’m fly” better than a unique pair of shades. The traditional aviators are always great, but try a box-framed aviator in one of your favorite colors is even better.

Neckwear: A great way to update your wardrobe without buying more clothes is to buy a few ties and scarves. If you’re a newbie to the scarf department you should stick to the traditional Arab scarf- it comes in a variety of colors. Ties are a great way to complete any look . . . and skinny ties are still a cut above the rest. Add a complimenting solid bright tie to your neutral toned button-up and sweater.
80’s: Everything 80’s is in . . .solid bright colors, geometric types shapes, gold jewelry, funky sneakers, and more. Some guys like to go completely 80s I suggest going “neatly 80s” meaning don’t go too overboard unless you’re going to themed party. Keep your 80s look neat and clean by wearing a bright 80’s graphic tee and sneakers, but instead of wearing bright 80’s esque pants wear dark denim jeans and some unique frames.
Rock Star: One of the most popular looks for men is the “Rocker look” everyone from Lil’Wayne to David Beckham rocks style that make them look as if they bonified Rock Stars. The main staples for this look are fitted t-shirts and jeans that fit (no baggy jeans allowed). An Ed Hardy t-shirt and True Religion jeans are easy ways accomplish “The Rock Star”. I suggest mimicking ensembles of true rock starts like Travis Barker or mimicking the styles of guys who have the look down-pack like Lupe Fiasco.
Urban Prep: This is my personal favorite. It’s such a versatile look and truly signifies the meaning of “The Urban Gentleman”. Urban Prep is a mixture of the latest hip-hop trends and the traditional preppy look. There are a variety of ways to get the look, and is up for individual interpretation, but one simple example is to wear a fitted hat and chuck tailors/converse or unique sneakers with a button-up, sweater vest, and tie.
Greetings Gentlemen,
I want to welcome you all to my new men’s fashion and grooming blog: The Urban Gentleman aka “the urban gent”.
But back to the blog . . . the reason I created this blog is because I constantly have male friends and family asking me fashion and grooming questions. And I always go shopping with them, where they ask me more questions☺ So finally one day I decided to look online for men’s fashion resources and low and behold- they were few and far in between. Then I searched for websites that focused on a mix of trends, street fashion, and luxury fashion…. and I couldn’t find anything! So I said to myself, “I should create it”. And after pondering upon it for awhile, I decided “The Urban Gentlemen” would be a perfect name.
The Urban Gentleman will focus on different aspects of men’s fashions and grooming, it will be the modern man’s fashion guide (all men, all sizes, all backgrounds). I’ll try to cover everything from the basics like how-to-tie-a-tie to what is the best type of jeans for your body style. I’ll also consistently keep you updated on the latest men’s fashion styles and looks and male trendsetters.
But all in all this will be my personal taste and style preferences for men. I don’t want my guy to be extra square or extra hip-hop; I want him to be classic yet contemporary, trendy yet refined, I want him to be an Urban Gentleman. I love men in Canali suits and Ferragamo shoes and I also like a guy that can rock an A’s fitted, Seven jeans, and a big-faced Polo. I think now a days, as a man, it’s important to be able to mix the classic and the modern and to always have an edge (when appropriate).
So again I welcome you! Tell all your family, friends, and acquaintances about my blog . . . hopefully I will become your resident men’s fashion and grooming expert!
- Cindy S.
PS- I’ll also try to give you guys a few tips on how to treat a lady because that’s very important for an Urban Gentleman. Also etiquette tips will be in the midst.
