V-MODA Crossfade LP Review

There's so many headphones out there these days, so it's hard to know which ones to purchase. We did a review of few in the Best Headphones article last year, and today we want to add one more to the list.

V-MODA Crossfade LP. I've been using these for about 2.5 months ( they came out in July for $249.99), and they have yet to disappoint. The styling is on point, they're comfortable (I can wear them for hours), and the sound is crystal clear. From what I've been told these are the preferred headphones by Apple employees and they're better quality than Beats by Dre. (More info and photos below:)

The Inspiration

The actor worked with Avon to develop a bolder, more intense scent and took inspiration from the strong connection he shares with his wife, Avon Global Creative Color Director Jillian Dempsey. To further reflect this inspiration, Jillian Dempsey appears with the actor in the Avon brochure and global advertising shots.

The Fragrance

“In creating my second fragrance with Avon, I learned how to push the boundaries and be more expressive with the complexity of scent,” Dempsey explains. “Some of my favorite notes from Unscripted, fig and patchouli, appear again in this fragrance with a darker, more mysterious effect—it’s a completely different way to wear the notes.”

TOP NOTES: Saffron, Mandarin, Nutmeg

MID NOTES: Spiced Wood Accord, Green Fig, Cistus

BASE NOTES: Olibanum, Patchouli, Guaiacwood, Skin Musk Accord

Urban Gentleman Notes: PDII smells slightly citrisy at first, then vaporizes into a lightly warm christmasy musk. I imagine if people made holiday colognes– this is how it would smell. Patrick Dempsey II is perfect for men who prefer a lighter fragrance instead of the usual overpowering aroma some colognes tend to have. This is definitely a fragrance one should try for the winter– along with the PDII Dual Action Face Wash and Shave Gel.

Grooming Corner: 91X Rocawear Gold Limited Edition

I haven’t written a cologne review in ages, so this weekend (or next) I’ll have to have a sit-down at a department store cologne counter… to give you guys the latest of the greatest colognes in my humble opinion. Nevertheless, I have had a chance to review Rocawear’s newest fragrance, 91X Rocawear Gold Limited Edition.

“The fragrance is inspirational, street savvy, authentic, and sexy masculine. Rocawear has now taken the fragrance to a new level by making the bottle a cool and sharp accessory. The fresh, woody, aromatic scent of 91X Rocawear Gold came from the infusion of mix of Asian Coriander, Mandarin Zest, and Living Cantaloupe with the spike Lavender, Geranium Leaf, and suede accord.“

I must admit, I had my doubts about this fragrance, but it smelled pretty good. It indeed had that traditional masculine cologne smell with a mix of something extra- perhaps the asian coriander and mandarin zest. I liked the initial smell (first few seconds) better than the ending initial smell (starting at about 15/30 seconds), but then the final/lingering scent is nice. (I hope that made sense). My favorite aspect of 91X Rocawear Gold would have to be the bottle- when laying flat it looks like a bar of gold, very fitting to Jay-Z’s image. Overall, its a nice masculine cologne, and I’ll give it a 3/5. Definitely a solid gift choice for guys that want to smell “like a man”.

Product Review: Axe & Edge

When it comes to a men’s grooming brand making products that not only work, but somehow entertain- Axe is it. They never fail at leaving quite the impression after one views their intentionally corny and funny commercials, this time they opted to create an entire website focused on their newest products…. www.thefixers.com

If you’re tired? SHOCK. If you’re dull? FEVER. If you’re groggy? RECOVERY. Feeling shameful? SNAKE PEEL.

Urban Gent Review: 4/5. This collection is sort of great, Axe offers a nice variety of scents so a guy is bound to find atleast one he’ll like. My favorite- the Snake Peel shower scrub (yellow bottle) and Recovery deodorant bodyspray (green can)- smells great, your lady will love these…

EDGE Infused (Lotionized Shave Gel)
Edge’s newest line of shave gel designed to go beyond regular shave protection by giving men a noticeably smooth and healthy look with vitamins, anti-oxidants and natural ingredients like Ginseng, Watermint and Witch Hazel.

Urban Gent Review: 3.5/5. Created a nice thick lather. The guys who tried this said it gave them a nice comfortable shave. I like that the shaving gel is lotionized , so it leaves a man’s skin alot softer than other shaving cremes.

Grooming Corner: New Products- Axe, Nivea, and L’Oreal

Over the past couple of weeks I was sent a few grooming items to try… well, I couldn’t try them (yanno being a young lady and all), but I had some of my male associates use them.

1. AXE Dark Temptation Spray
2. NIVEA for Men Revitalizing Body Lotion
3.L’OREAL Paris Men’s Vive Absolute Clean Hair & Body Wash

AXE Dark Temptation
Info: Developed by world-renowned fragrance expert, Ann Gottlieb, AXE Dark Temptation combines the subtle aroma of chocolate with fresh gourmet scents.

Urban Gent’s Review: 3.7/5 I must say at first I wasn’t sure about the idea of using the smell of chocolate for a cologne. But I was in for a pleasant surprise after smelling the spray. It’s like a literal mixture of chocolate and cologne- mmmm, tasty. I think this is a good inexpensive spray that will mix well with the body scent of most men.

NIVEA for Men
Info: Perfect for the changing seasons, NIVEA for MEN Revitalizing Body Lotion is a creamy vitamin E and aloe vera lotion that has a light masculine fragrance that doesn’t leave white streaks after applying it. That’s because it’s specially formulated to penetrate men’s tough, dry skin quicker than ordinary lotions.

Urban Gent’s Review: 4/5. I actually tested this lotion along with my male friends, and it made my hands soft. I personally don’t like lotions this thin in texture, but I know many people do so I won’t holding it against them. My favorite things about this lotion was the smell- very very masculine.

L’OREAL Paris Men’s Vive Absolute Clean Hair & Body Wash
Info: Vive Pro for Men Absolute Clean Hair & Body Wash is the ultimate cleanser. It combines shampoo, conditioner and body wash in one to quickly clean and condition hair and skin. It leaves you feeling and smelling fresh and energized.

Urban Gent’s Review: 2.9/5. The smell of this product is great and it works well as a body wash. Though it gets your hair clean, the reader who used this product did not like the way his hair looked after using it. The guy who used it is of mixed heritage so his hair texture is a mixture of curly and straight… the product probably works different on each hair type. But he really likes the smell of Vive Absolute and continues to use it as a body wash.

FUN FACTS: Along with the spray AXE sent me over a gigantic dark chocolate candybar… it was tasty, but I couldn’t finish it all- it was just too big. There were a few interesting chocolate facts on the candy bar as well, including a someof these:

* Twenty percent of American women would lick their chocolate so
nobody else would ask for a bite

* Nearly 30 percent of American women ranked chocolate as more
irresistible than sex

* Eighty-two percent agreed that chocolate is a temptation that
is hard to resist

* Seventy-two percent of women would hide chocolate to avoid
having to share it

* Seventy-four percent of women consider chocolate to be
irresistible

To Try all 3 of these products it would cost you about $15, you’ll have a shampoo, body wash, moisturizer (aka lotion) and spray. Hmmmm, all that for just $15 isn’t that bad.
