Jimmy Choo Sneaker Collection + The Rise of Men’s Designer Sneakers

Lanvin, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Louboutin, and now Jimmy Choo. The market for designer men’s sneakers is evolving at a rapid pace. In such an unstable economy, is this a wise move? Well, Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with Kanye led their shoes to be sold out… yeah $800-$1200 pair of shoes were sold out in a matter of days, some even sold out in hours (many were pre-ordered though).

Shoe connoisseurs are still hawking them on eBay for up to $2,000… yeah, pretty crazy. So, clearly there is a demand for these high-end sneakers.

Louboutin Spiked-Hi Top Sneaker, $835

With producers like Pharrell and Swizz Beatz tweeting about and wearing the new men’s Louboutin shoes, Christian has had alot of great publicity. I’m just curious about the overall sales of his studded shoes so far (if anyone has an idea, feel free to comment). And I really want to get a look at his complete collection because so far it seems to be never-ending, lol.

3 of Jimmy Choo’s high-top sneakers

Jimmy Choo will be adding his fancy kicks to his pre-fall 2010 collection. There will be 8 styles, 5 high tops and 3 low tops. The materials for Choo’s sneakers will range from suede to patent leather to snakeskin. And the price? $470 to $630. That’s a few hundred lower than his luxury sneaker counterparts, so the price is definitely more economy conscious (in terms of luxury footwear)… But I guess the question is: will the lower price mean he’ll sell more? maybe even sell-out faster? Or will his lower price tag just leave him with lower profit margins? Only time will tell. The Jimmy Choo sneaker collection will be available to purchase online in May.

What do you guys think about the rise in men’s designer sneakers? Which ones are your favorite? Are you willing to buy them or will you stick to your $50 Chuck Taylors, $100 Supras, and $150 Jordans?

80s Baby: Reebok Reborn

I got word of Reebok’s Spring 2009 collection months ago. I heard it was cool, but never really got around to seeing what it was about– how the shoes looked and so on. Today, I aimlessly discovered the photos of their collection that until today- had just been taking up space on my hard drive.
And to Reebok I say- Bravo, way to take today’s fashion culture by the reigns and completely upgrade. There collection is what alot of big shoe brands should do– modernize. Creative Recs sort of have a monopoly on this certain market niche and I’m sure they’re loving it, but there’s nothing wrong with good ole competition– it keeps fresh ideas-a-coming. Now, don’t get me wrong- I don’t think everyone should suddenly began to make boldly patterned and brightly colored shoes, by all means stay true to your brand. BUT, there’s nothing wrong with introducing one collection, or atleast a few kicks that will leave the M.I.A and Kanye West of the world wanting more.

Unfortunately many of these were/are limited editions that have already sold out, but you can still find many of the main styles… oh, and did I mention… these are women’s shoes. Usually, I would never prompt a male to purchase shoes designed for a woman, buuuuuut these are kinda fly and I think guys can certaintly pull them off. (just don’t buy the pink ones).

Olympic Celebration: Jordan VII Miro

Jordan VII Miro
Today Opium Barcelona will celebrate their opening and will be releasing the Jordan VII Miro simultaneously. The shoes are an homage to the Spanish artist Joan Miro. The shoe will only be released in very limited quantities and a handful of shops worldwide.

These are some freshAzz Jordans, some people may think they’re too colorful, but being that I’m an artist of sorts- I can truly appreciate them and the deeper meaning behind the design.

Famous Spanish painter Joan Miro had died before the 1984 Olympic Games. Later years in 1992 Michael Jordan and the Dream Team won gold, they played in Miro’s hometown Barcelona, Spain, and in the game Jordan wore the Air Jordan 7 Olympic edition. Taking one of Joan Miro’s design, the “Woman and Bird” sculpture. They have mixed that style into the Air Jordan 7 Retro.

I wonder if we’ll see any celebrities rockin’ these artistic creations.
