If you don't wanna go the subtle 90s route, then there's the literal option with modern accents. Instead of wearing your overalls with an oversized tee or jersey like Zac (Saved by the Bell ) or Will (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ), pair it with a fitted denim button up. Instead of baggy pants or shorts with your boxy printed tee, opt for tailor fit denim

Summer Elegance. Sometimes, or maybe alot of the times, you need more than ripped jeans and a t-shirt for your casual menswear. In the same sentiment of The New Summer Classics, try one or both of these looks to satisfy your more elegant side.
How to Ensure Your Wardrobe is Summer Elegant?
- A neutral palette that compliments your skin tone. Darker skin tones = beige, khaki, white / Paler skin tones = brown, burgundy, olive
- Fit. Not too big, not too small… just right.
- Material. While there are exceptions to the rule stay away from sporty workout materials.

A tucked in button up is always preferred, but in summer months you get to forgo "the rules"… keep it loose and untucked for a more airy comfortable feeling.
Sidenote: I would like to commend AllSaints for the thoughtfulness of their button-up design above. These days we button it up— all the way, it's very stylish, but it can be a little tight on the neck. Their button-up features a hook top button that is hidden under the collar. This gives a cleaner crisper look and allows the neck a little breathing room. #TUGCrew says thanks.

Join us over the next couple months in our Summer Series: Teasers. The series will include the latest and the greatest in men's fashion, style, and grooming. If you don't already, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and as we finally build up our Instagram.
Let's start this 3 part Men's Fashion Look Book with the mandatory summer basics. These are some core summer wardrobe staples that will keep you, well, swaggy at all times.
The 90s: Dwayne Wayne and em’. As far as the 90s trend— we’ve moved from The Fresh Prince to A Different World. You and your crew should give a subtle Hillman College aura when hanging about. But it’s 2015, so your Whitley looks more like Tika Sumpter of course . The 90s subtlety comes from your choice of accessories, hairstyle/cut, and mix in of athletic wear and prep.

Custom ripped Levis, Topman crew top, Topman huarache loafers, Duluth Pack backpack (above)
Ripped Jeans: Summer jeans might as well keep you cool, right? Rip’ it, cut it, breeaaathe. Pair them with huarache loafers– my favorite urban gent summer shoe btw, a lightweight short sleeve summer knit, the classic 90s herringbone, digital gold watch, and circle frames.

Swimwear as Streetwear. You never know when a day party will turn into a pool party, so just be ready. Bright pool-adaptable shorts paired with a net / mesh shirt and chains worn underneath to give an inconspicuous shine at the right angles. Keep the top boxy, but proportionate to ensure a masculine look. Simple classic kicks, we chose suede navy Nikes, you might choose burgundy New Balances– wearer's choice.
Men's Summer clothing is all about keeping cool and staying ready.

Parks & Recreation: Snapback & Tees (Summer Edition).
(behind-the-scenes video of Parks & Recreation: Summertime Style)
Lately we've been so caught up in button-downs, selvedge denim, shawl collar cardigans, and double-breasted blazers that we've forgotten about the relaxed easiness of a simple t-shirt and shorts. So we pulled out the snapbacks, fresh tees, a variety of shorts, and matching accessories to help get you through what seems to be the hottest days of summertime. Also, introducing, Ben Swann #TeamTUG.
An afternoon at the park.
10:37AM// Eat breakfast.
11:15AM// Pack your bag for a good ole time at the park (yo-yo, check, frisbee, check, a ton of games to have old-fashion fun, check…).
11:45AM// Always say "hi" to the neighbors or passersby, wave or casually throw up deuces (aka peace sign).
11:51AM// Look both ways before crossing the street.
12:03PM// Keep cool and be nostalgic– buy a popsicle from the ice cream man.
12:19PM// Sit on a bench (in the shade of course), people watch, and ponder upon life.
12:43PM// Play frisbee with a friend. (or any other park-friendly sport to your liking)
1:42PM// Take a breather and relax before heading home, or to your next destination.

Hi. I’m a 30 year old urban gent from Birmingham, Al. My girlfriend lives in Tallahassee so I usually there on holidays and weekends. Recently I’ve changed to an older more sophisticated look. Similar to Kendrack Lewis your most recent featured urban gent. My problem is I don’t know what to wear when it’s really hot. When the temp is in the 90′s, it’s really humid, and sweating is unavoidable. Could you help me out?
Hey (name of Alabama gentleman)
When it’s hot keep it simple… its all about wearing quality or proper fitting clothing. Examples of looks to wear on a hot summer day:
1. white polo, seer sucker shorts, navy boat shoes
2. white/colored short sleeves v-neck, very light-weight cardigan with the sleeves rolled up, khaki shorts, canvas shoes
3. long sleeve plaid shirt w/ the sleeves rolled up, jeans, and your choice of shoes
accessorize with a nice pair of trendy shades like black wayfarers and you’re good to go.
The thing is Steven, I know its Really hot, but you’re a gentleman so its never really appropriate to wear combinations like tanks, shorts, and flip-flops unless you’re going to the beach… again, I know its hot, but guys just don’t have as easy as women when it comes to looking very stylish and keeping very cool in the sun… we can always just put on a sleeveless light weight dress and sandals, which would be the coolest thing we could put on aside from a bikini.
- shorts are right at or just above the knees
- sockless w/ loafers, boat shoes, or sandals
(some people say gentleman do not wear sandals,
but I’ll leave that up to you)
- long sleeve shirts and sweaters are rolled up
- top buttons un-done (usually 2)
Also for the summer months:
- carry a linen handkerchief/pocketsquare to dab at sweat
- use sunblock
- always carry sunglasses and/or a hat
- drink LOTS of water
- boxers may keep you cooler than briefs
- use a good deodorant
- consider taking a quickie mid day shower in addition to your morning or night shower, this usually keeps you a little more cool
