A Man’s Winter Staple: Camel Hair and Wool Sweater by Jeffrey Rudes

The Urban Gent x Jeffrey Rudes

Lately we’ve been prepping you for the cold weather – a couple of Fall looks to sport with your dog, our favorite scenic sweaters, and of course, a declaration that one of our chosen sweater material. We were sent a beautiful luxurious camel hair and wool sweater from designer Jeffrey Rüdes, who has just opened a store at 57 Greene Street in SoHo, New York.

The new flagship store

Iconic denim designer – Jeffrey Rudes

Jeffery was the creator of J BRAND – a premium denim brand. He sold J BRAND in 2014 to start his new namesake brand – Jeffrey Rüdes. And although he’s no longer singularly in the denim business, his new line is meant to compliment it. A nice pair of jeans can accompany many pieces in his collection. You don’t have to, of course, but you can and you’ll look good doing it. So naturally, that is what we did with our Rüdes winter knit.

Perfect fit and very soft

An ivory crew neck sweater is the perfect winter neutral. With dark skin it’ll beautifully contrast, with paler skin it’ll beautifully blend – almost like a nude. Both perfect palettes for this winter season. Get this winter staple, here

We paired our ivory wool and camel hair sweater with dark gray denim and brown tasseled loafers. This gave us an elegant, mature, neutral palette. The sweater would also look great if paired with matching ivory jeans and black velvet loafers -or- straight fit blue denim and your favorite pair of classic white kicks. How would you wear it?

The Man in Cashmere: Naadam and Three Types of Sweaters for Men

Ooo, you feel that breeze— it’s a little chilly outside. Shorts move to the back of the closet and sweaters to the front. Well, actually, we’ve joined the Kondo movement so shorts can stay where they are… but multi-seasonal closet organization aside, sweaters are what we are about to move into our daily rotation. The thing is though, this year is the year of cashmere.  Our crew necks and shawl collars aren’t simply sheepswool or cotton, we’ve upgraded to grown man status. Pass the cashmere please.
And to get us started on our new winter fabric of choice, we introduce Naadam Cashmere. Naadam is looking to bring out the inner nomad in us all. You see, Naadam isn’t just your typical luxury cashmere sweater. They fall into that category, of those people, you know the ones that insist on being socially responsible and supporting the actual economic growth and livelihood of a particular group of people? Yea, those folks. And in this instance that group of people are nomadic herders.

So we’ve chosen to experience 3 responsibly sourced Italian-made luxury cashmere sweaters to show our Urban Gent family. The cashmere cardigan, the cashmere high neck (turtle neck alternative), and the cashmere coatigan - all stylish and ready to keep you warm for many winters to come.

RIBBED CARDIGAN: A cardigan is an essential in any persons closet. This ribbed cardigan serves as your everyday sweater— dress it up or down. Wear it to walk your dog or to go out on a nice date, it’s versatile, flattering, and super comfortable.

Sweater Weather.

It's almost sweater weather, so that got my thinking about one of my favorite sweaters (above).  Initially featured back in 2011… since then a couple of designers have made some scenic sweaters, but few, if any, as great as this.

Mini Urban Gentleman: LACOSTE x TUG Fall Winter KIDS Look Book

We teamed up with iconic luxury sportswear brand Lacoste to create a special Mini TUG LookBook entitled, "Life in Color" or "La Vie En Couleurs" to pay tribute to the french brand. Our approach and idea was simple — we wanted to display elegant colorful clothing on beautiful children in a sophisticated yet playful setting. The "Los Trompos" outdoor interactive exhibit at The High Museum of Art was the ideal location… in fact it was the biggest inspiration for this season's Mini Urban Gent Look Book. While this feature was initially centered around the original and kid sophistication of a mini Urban Gent, we decided to include what is the ideal mini Urban Gent girlfriend as well — who's equally as fashionable and beautifully compliments his style. Needless to say this was a fun look book, it was a sunny day full of laughter, spinning art, skateboarding, drawing cool logos on sidewalks, basketball, and playing fetch with a toy parti poodle at a beautiful museum.

Socks socks socks– whether striped or native-printed they're the latest essential statement making accessory for men. Stance and Nigel Knox loaded us up on socks, so in a late winter shoot we paired them with a few new pairs of Toms, stylish threads from Onassis, and a few other pieces.

"playing chinese checkers"; vintage Gant plaid button-up; selvedge Levis: Nigel Knox skull socks; Toms desert botas; LRG belt, Nixon watch

A few years ago it was all about skull scarves, last year and the year before skull velvet slippers, this year you gotta have atleast one pair of skull socks.

LRG crewneck sweater; Meltin' Pot denim; Stance camouflage socks; suede Toms shoes

Toms continues to recreate their "buy a pair, we give a pair" espadrilles with newer styles like the suede cordones (featured above) to the canvas desert botas.

vintage Atlanta snapback; Onassis chambray jacket shirt; Onassis harem pants; UGG sneakers; LRG scarf

Onassis has created a perfect pair of modern harem pants, not too over-exaggerated and Hammer-like, but just enough dimension in the shape to a second-look. (You can't see it in the pic, but the crotch of the pants does sag a bit, which of course adds to the authenticity of it being a pair of harems)

Lands End Winter Coats

Lands End sent us one of their jackets to try over the winter. While the quality of the coat was good, the sleeves were a bit long… we should have went with a size smaller. Spring just arrived, so it's a good time to catch those winter sales. They currently have alot, if not all of the winter coats (and clothing) on sale now, so check them out here.
